Cantonal Incentives for Decarbonization
The Canton’s incentive program is designed to financially support energy efficiency projects. Grants are offered contributions for structural and plant interventions on existing buildings constructed before 2000. Here are some of the available incentives.
Energy Restoration of Buildings

- External walls and underground walls up to 2 m
- Floors facing outwards or buried up to 2 m

Replacement and Conversion of Heating Systems
- Replacement of a Heat Pump (pre-2000 systems)
- Conversion from electric or fossil fuel heating:
- Air/water heat pump
- Water/water or brine/water heat pump
- Automated pellet system < 20 kWth
- Bonus for First Installation of Hydraulic System
- Incentive for New District Heating Networks
Solar Thermal
Solar Thermal Systems on Existing Buildings: Incentive of CHF 2,400.- + CHF 1,000.-/ kWth (not cumulative with Minergie incentives).
Renewable Energy Fund (FER)
The Canton supports projects for the production of renewable energy, incentivizing hydroelectric, wind, deep geothermal, biomass and photovoltaic plants with contributions proportional to the installed power.
